Dad, just let me play
By James Douglas

All I want to do,
Is play football like my idols,
The game more important than the prize,
And I’d rather gain friends than rivals.

On a Sunday I feel almost too scared to play,
Worrying that my mistake might lose us the game,
Then all the angry dads will start shouting,
And they’ll all be cursing my name.

None of your children try to make such mistakes,
We’re desperate to make you feel proud,
But all we need is friendly support,
Instead of this angry crowd.

So dad, please let us play the game.
In the friendly atmosphere that we’d all like,
And take a look at what you’d rather do,
Be little adults playing football, or big children having fights

WLY was formed in 2010 due to concerns about the spiralling cost of football for children in the local area. We have emerged with a philosophy of providing affordable and wherever possible, free youth football coaching in the local area.

It is the aim of WLY to promote a safe environment for children to learn, develop and enjoy playing youth football in the community. We will make every effort to make sure that every child has the opportunity to participate in structured football regardless of gender, disability, culture, language, religious beliefs, financial background or their football ability whilst instilling Honesty, Teamwork, Sportsmanship, Communication, Problem Solving and Respect. We believe these values are important to each player not only to help them with their football ability but to become active members in our community. These goals will be achieved through organizing our dedicated volunteers, caring parents, and business partners who may wish to associate with WLY. We will introduce in our youth the challenge of competition, regardless of the result, the importance of commitment and the spirit of community, whilst maintaining that football is fun for the player.

In order to remain the cheapest club in the area we rely heavily on sponsorship and donations. We are the only club to offer an incentive scheme to all parents, and potentially your child could play free football. If you think your may have a lead why not pass this onto us, all money into the club goes back into the club for training equipments, kits and fun days, as all members of WLY are volunteers and we are a non profit organization.

If you would like to be a player in the club then please contact the club secretary on secretary@westlondonyouthfootball.co.uk or if you wish to be a official partner or sponsor please contact our sponsorship officer on sponsorship@westlondonyouthfootball.co.uk

WLY will cater for any already formed teams and you can take up the opportunity of joining a forward thinking, dynamic and democratic club in the area. WLY have big plans to transform the way youth football should be, whilst maintaining that football should be affordable for the parent and fun for the player.
